JAKE PETERS Jacob Peters passed away September 25, 2007 at the age of 72. Jake was born in Swift Current, SK. He was raised in a large and loving family 20 miles south in the farming community of Blumenort. He left for Winnipeg to study Arts at the U of M, then enrolled in Divinity Studies at SBI where he met his wife Frieda. Together they went to Goshen College where Jake finished his studies and they started their family. They settled in Portage la Prairie, where he will be remembered as a dedicated teacher and theatre director. When Jake retired from teaching in 1997, he and Frieda moved to Winnipeg where he could be close to his family as Parkinson's disease caused his abilities to decline. He never lost his love for life, and his hope and perseverance were a great inspiration for all those around him. He was absolutely devoted to his wife Frieda, his children, David (Jorene Harder), Laura (Reymond Page), Randy and his grandsons, Jonas, Daniel, Matthew and Jordan. He is also survived by his sisters, Mary Martens, Tiena (Pete) Hildebrand, Anna Hildebrand, his brother Dave (Tena), and his in-laws, Helen and Susie Wieler, Betty and Walter Isaac, Abe and Mary Martens, Lena Schellenberg and many nieces and nephews. He was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father and grandfather, and he will be sorely missed. There will be a viewing and devotional on Sunday, September 30 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Home. The funeral will take place at 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 1 at Fort Garry Mennonite Fellowship, 150 Bayridge Ave., Winnipeg. Coffee and dessert will follow. In lieu of flowers, should friends desire, donations may be made to MCC, 134 Plaza Dr., Winnipeg, R3T 5K9. Arrangements entrusted to KLASSEN FUNERAL HOME 1897 Henderson Hwy. 338-0331 www.klassenfuneralhome.com Life stories may be shared with friends and family across the globe at www.mem.com.
